This incident has been reported in the following books.
1. Tabari
2. Musnaf Ibn Abi Shayba
3. Al-Imamiya wa Siyasiah attributted to Ibn Qutaiba (it is a pseudo work which is falsely attrubutted to Ibn Qutaiba and is not accepted by the ahle sunnah scholars, we will not discuss it here)

We will refute them one by one inshaAllah

Tabari

First of all, it is reported in Tabari.
Its chain of narration is
ابن حمید ۔۔۔ جریر ۔۔۔ مغیرہ ۔۔۔ زیاد بن کلیب
Ibn Humayd - Jarir - Mughaira - Ziyad bin Kulayb

The narrator , Ibn Humayd has been criticized by lots of scholars

Razi said
He mixes asnaad (chain of narrations) and matan (text) of narrations (دخلت على محمد بن حميد وهو يركب الأسانيد على المتون)

Nasai said
He is not trustworthy (ليس بثقة)

Asadi said
He is a great liar ( احذق بالكذب )

Al Iraqi said
He is one of the liars (هو أحد الكذابين)

Jozjani said
He is not trustworthy (غير ثقة)

Musannaf ibn Abi Shayba

محمد بن بشر ۔۔۔ عبید اللہ ابن عمر ۔۔۔ زید بن اسلم ۔۔۔ اسلم
Muhammad bin Bashar - Ubaidullah ibn Umar - Zaid bin Aslam - Aslam

This narration is maqtu '/ مقطوع , Aslam and his son were not present at this incident, rather they heard this story from someone else, and that person is not mentioned in the sanad (chain of narration) hence this is to be rejected.

Sharh Nahjul Balagha by Ibn Abil Hadeed is not a sunni book, but a shia book.

The incident of Ali's allegiance to Abu Bakr is present in authentic books e.g Bukhari etc but this incident is nowhere mentioned in them.
